You’ve made the exciting decision to tie the knot with your toes in the sand — now it’s time to fill your guests in on all the details! Here are some of our favorite design concepts to help you create a unique beach wedding invitation that will be a keepsake for years to come.
Put your message in a bottle
Romanticize your wedding save-the-dates or invitations by designing a message in a bottle. The presentation will charm your guests and the special touch will be a memorable sentiment.
Add coastal accent
Add a special touch by securing your invitations with raffia ribbon or attach real seashells to the invite before you seal the envelope.
Write in the sand
You won’t have to worry about the water washing your design away. Play with footprints, hearts or your names or initials imprinted in the sand.
Play with language
Get creative with your word usage and create theme-specific phrases such as:
- Pack your bags
- Two less fish in the sea
- Something beautiful is on the horizon
- Anchors away
Think outside the box
Experiment with shape and break out of the square invitation. Shape your invitations as a sandal, oyster shell, suitcase or the state or country where the nuptials will take place.
Choose a coastal color palette
Don’t be shy with color. Think blues and whites, pastels, greens and beach colors such as blush, coral, seafoam, and aqua. Don’t stop at the invites, go ahead and add color to the lining of theÏ envelope.
Map out your wedding
Don’t be scared to go all the way with your travel theme. Incorporate a compass, boarding pass, passport or map into your destination design. Design your save-the-dates as a boarding pass look-a-like that includes the date and location of your special day.
Transport your guests
Transport your guests to your destination when they receive your invitation in the mail. Incorporate beachy elements such as palm trees, waves, seashells, flip flops, anchors, beach chairs and umbrellas, sand, fish, tropical sunsets, nautical stripes, sunsets, or greenery. Design rope in the form of an infinity sign, have your initials on the side of a boat, or include two seahorses smooching. The possibilities are endless!
You’ve already checked off many important decisions from your wedding to-do list so now it’s time to have a little fun. Enjoy the design process, and once you’ve finished the customization, it’s time to seal and send!
